"Gospel Fest" is a landmark cultural event bringing the legacy and excellence of Black American gospel music to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in September of 2026 and beyond.
Phase One of "Gospel Fest" is “The Gospel Experience”, an interdisciplinary event occurring on Saturday, September 19th at Teatro Santa Ana, that will incorporate live music, dance and multimedia art forms to bring the Black Gospel Experience to life. Showcasing professional, touring Gospel musicians from the United States backing the Sound of Soul Community Gospel choir to showcase foundational gospel skill and technique in a musical experience never before seen in San Miguel. Featuring Professional Musicians, Christian Terrell, Hugo Sanchez, Kyle McNair and Andrew Freeman. These musicians have worked with musical powerhouses like Raphael Saadiq, Tye Tribbett, Elevation Worship, Myron Butler and Cory Henry. The Donation Goal for this project is $25,000 and our deadline to reach this goal is September 1st, 2026.
Phase Two of the Project is "The Gospel Experience Workshops" slated for 2027. This is a series of musical workshops, jam sessions and panels featuring professional, touring musicians and vocalists. All descending on San Miguel de Allende to impart their expertise on aspiring and gigging artists in Mexico looking to expand their repertoire and hone their skills. We are collaborating with Hit Kulture Digital, multimedia powerhouse specializing in innovation, education and storytelling across all platforms to facilitate musician workshops. The Donation goal for this project is $75,000 and the deadline to reach this goal is January 31st, 2027.
Phase Three is "Gospel Fest" is a free, public concert held in front of the Parroquia. Anchored by a multigenerational, award-winning, Gospel recording artist (TBD), the project combines world-class performance, local artist participation, and cross-border artistic exchange. Our goal is to bring the artist to San Miguel during the highly anticipated and attended International Jazz Festival season in November, 2027. We are looking to partner with the local government to have the Recording artist and local community musicians as openers during the Jazz Festival for an unforgettable experience for all ages and backgrounds. The Donation goal for this project is $150,000 and our deadline to reach this goal is September 1st, 2027.
Gospel music is one of America’s most influential cultural contributions — shaping jazz, blues, rock, R&B, and contemporary global music. Rooted in Black history, faith, resilience, and joy, it is both an art form and a living cultural legacy. Gospel Fest honors that legacy while creating meaningful access for diverse international audiences.
Why This Matters Now?
At a time of global division and threat of cultural erasure, gospel music’s communal power offers connection, hope, and shared humanity. Presenting this tradition in San Miguel — a UNESCO World Heritage city and cultural hub — positions Gospel Fest as both artistically significant and socially resonant.
